Application Range of Argus Systems
Cotton Spinning Mills
Argus Fire Control manufactures a broad-range of fire suppressing system components for all types of textile production processes threatened by fire hazards or metal contaminants. Through the use of a patented infrared detector, a spark or glowing ember is detected, instantaneously firing a suppression tank, shutting down production equipment and closing dampers to halt the spread of the fire and alerting production personnel to the incident. Experience over the years has identified a broad range of hazards in spinning mills. These include: “Hot Bales” received from cotton gins, stones in cotton bales, stray metal and wire in bales, loose metal from the production process itself, friction and choke-up, and even electrical short circuits in production equipment. Given this broad range of hazards, the capability of Argus suppression systems to integrate with multiple suppression agents is a key advantage. Various Argus configurations can employ FM-200 Clean Agent, Dry Chemical, carbon dioxide gas, and water, depending on the nature of the fire hazard, the type of equipment protected, and the customer’s requirements.
The ability of Argus Systems to integrate metal detection and removal with spark detection can significantly improve the overall productively of mills. Argus systems can be used with equipment from all textile machinery manufacturers.

Non-Woven Mills
Non-woven production facilities cover such a broad-range of production methods and processes that it is difficult to generalize regarding how Argus systems can best be employed in order to protect the production process. However, filtration systems, separators, and the duct work connecting the primary production processes are key points of detection and control. Non-woven system installations typically include both spark and metal detection.
Cotton Gins
Argus Fire Control systems have proven to be extremely effective in improving the safety and productivity of cotton-ginning facilities through the development and application of a high speed spark detection system to provide cotton gins with a reliable early warning fire detection system for multiple points in the production line. Traditionally, gin management can have a great deal of difficulty in determining the source of fires in order to resolve (or “cure”) the source of fires. By locating multiple detectors in identified zones before and after keys production components problem areas can be quickly identified and isolated for the purpose

Re-Cycle Processing Facilities
While Argus equipment protects both fiber and paper re-cycling systems fiber re-cycling is more predominant. As with Spinning mills and non-woven facilities, filtration systems and diverter systems applied to production duct work are frequent applications. Further, since the nature of production inputs at recycle mills can vary more dramatically than those facilities operating with virgin fibers, friction and “choke-ups” can account for a large proportion of fire hazards and should be accounted for in fire protection system design.
Wood Working Mills
Argus Fire Control offers the woodworking and dust collection industry an affordable water spray system to protect valuable filters and machinery and avoid costly production down time. The Argus PulseFire water spray system is specifically designed to protect woodworking dust collection and exhaust systems.
